DIY Scanner Cart

Orthodontic scanner cart

I recently posted on Facebook about a scanner cart I made, that would give any scanner the same basic feel as the iTero. Compact, rollable, light, and with a touch screen. You can see the video below. I had a lot of interest in the components used to make the cart, which you can also find below. I bought all of this over a year ago, so availability may have changed, and prices have definitely changed. The touch screen was $180 when I bought it, now it’s almost double and harder to find. I’m planning to build another that is even better, as long as I can find a good touch screen. Let me know if you have any questions.

There is one piece that I didn’t purchase, and just happen to have. It’s a plastic sleeve that fits into the top of the pole to holds the swivel arm. It’s necessary because the aluminum pole is slightly too wide for the arm, and also slightly too wide for the wheel base, and needed to be modified to fit. It would make sense to just buy a smaller diameter pole, but the 2” pole I purchased was easy to buy from Amazon. Other options needed a little more work, but probably worth it. Something I’m looking into for the next build. Lastly, I used matte black spray paint to cover everything.
